  2. Amazing, Encarna. The answers are not all correct, but your pieces of the transcript are almost perfect. You will have to wait for three or four days until I post the answer. In the meantime, a couple of corrections of new words:

The protest shows no sign of ABATING

it is STEERING Egypt towards democracy.

  3. I have inserted a dictionary search in the right-hand menu so you don't have to copy the links in my previous comment. I hope it'll also make your work in the blog easier.

    It's free, you're welcome (hehe).

  4. I agree with Encarna to some extent.
However, in the first question, in my view, the answer would be just "a new face".
Besides, in reference with the third answer, the journalist said that "the movement has a truly home-grow figurehead".

  9. Answers:

    1- a new face.
2- the Emergency Law (and that they make) specific constitutional changes
    3- Egypt state media
    4- three weeks
    5- democracy

The words from the video are:

    1. (00:37) The President says he will step down in September, but his opponents say they see through that offer as an attempt to merely give the old regime a new face.

    Attempt - try

    2. (1:08) That the emergency law be lifted, that specific constitutional changes are made.

You seem to have had no problem with that. It's quite common to find reformulations from passive to active voice and viceversa.

    3. (1:17) Egypt state media often accuse foreigners of inciting the demonstrations.

Careful with this one. The sentence in the exercise is asking you to provide the AGENT of a passive verb (are accused).

    4. (1:37) Now into their third week, the protests show no sign of abating.

Also very common: to change the sentence order when asking you to find time, place or manner clauses.

    5. (1:44) The government insists it is steering Egypt towards democracy

Here I am testing your knowledge of vocabulary, but as you could see, it is not really necessary to understand the verb "steer", as you have the preposition of direction (towards) to help you.

    Good job!
